Solving a Meta Ads Account Setup Issue for an Interior Design Business

Project Background and Challenge:

While setting up a brand-new Meta Ads account for an interior design business, we encountered a persistent technical issue.

At Alter Marketing Solutions, we follow a detailed and precise process when creating new ad accounts to ensure clients never face problems later. As part of the setup, we created a Facebook Page, connected it with the business portfolio, and attempted to link the Instagram account. However, despite following the correct procedure, an error repeatedly occurred whenever we tried connecting Instagram to the Facebook Page and Portfolio.

Execution & Actions

We tested multiple approaches to resolve the issue:

  • Attempted to connect the Facebook Page and Instagram account several times.

  • Granted access to another user to try the connection.

  • Tried connecting via Google Chrome in incognito mode.

  • Contacted Meta Ads Support, but even they could not provide a solution.

Despite multiple attempts, the issue persisted. Instead of giving up, we decided to rethink our approach.

The Turning Point:

  • Switched the Instagram account to private, then back to public.

  • Performed a few minor optimizations.

  • Converted the account to a professional account.

This fresh approach — essentially “starting from scratch without creating a new account” — finally solved the problem.

Results

  • The Facebook Page successfully connected to Instagram within minutes.

  • Campaigns were launched seamlessly, with no further issues.
  • Most importantly, we demonstrated resilience by not giving up and solving the issue creatively when even official meta ads support couldn’t help us.
